O homem em primeiro plano olha além da mulher ao seu lado; a figura ao fundo, emoldurada numa abertura iluminada, volta a cabeça na direção deles enquanto atravessa; e a mulher em primeiro plano olha para a objetiva — a única que encontra alguém, e o encontro é com quem está fora da cena. Três arcos de ferro sucessivos compartimentam cada uma num espaço contínuo.

The work that names the series from within: its title states literally what the others show without saying. Three people, three directions of gaze, none reciprocated. The man in the foreground looks past the woman beside him; the figure in the background, framed by a brightly lit opening, turns his head toward them as he walks by; and the woman in the foreground looks into the lens — the only one whose gaze meets someone else’s, and that encounter is with someone outside the scene. Three successive iron arches partition each figure within a continuous space.
