The only work deliberately made for the series, and the most economical in the group. Here, separation is neither a matter of distance nor of a physical barrier: it is a matter of speed. The entire scene is brought to a standstill by traffic, while the only figure who does not share that condition crosses the frame in a blur. She is not far from the others — she is in a different state. The tunnel vault closes the perspective with bands of red light, forming a corridor in which no one can veer away — and one person alone has found a way. It is in this work that the artist first articulates her principle of not exposing her subjects.
