Claude Monet · o tenebrismo → Luiza Whitaker

The exact negative of The Swans: the same kind of subject, with the opposite lighting decision. There, the birds are black silhouettes; here, they are the only things lit in the frame, caught in the light from a café behind the photographer. The sky barely appears — the blue hour enters through reflection. And the method is reversed as well: the framing was set first, and the subject had to enter it.
“What I really wanted to capture was the light on the water and the reflection of the trees.”
Claude Monet · Tenebrism → Luiza Whitaker
